MATE = MEIT

From Argentina to Australia, one mate at a time.

WHAT IS MATE?

Mate is not just a drink. It is a moment, a ritual, a conversation and a way of connecting with people. It is that first mate of the morning, the excuse to sit down for five more minutes, or the “one more mate” that somehow turns into three hours of talking.

For us, mate existed long before Mate Coast. It started in Argentina, around a table, with friends and family, through early mornings, late nights, road trips, football, work and all those little moments that become part of life.

You don’t really learn what mate is by reading about it. You learn it by sharing it. Someone prepares it, someone takes the first mate, says “gracias”, and then it goes from one person to the next. From hand to hand. From generation to generation.

When we arrived in Australia, we wanted to bring a little piece of home with us. But more than that, we wanted to share what mate really means. The culture, the ritual, the conversations, the people and everything that comes with it.

Maybe you are Argentinian and mate reminds you of home. Maybe you share it with friends at the beach. Or maybe you have never tried it before. It doesn’t matter. You are welcome here.

Mate Coast is not just about selling mates or yerba. It is about sharing a part of our culture and creating a bridge between Argentina and Australia, between our home and somewhere new.

We are still learning, growing, trying things and discovering where this can take us. But one thing we know for sure: every mate has a story, and now we want to share ours with you.

MATE COAST

Share the mate. Share the moment.

HOW TO DRINK MATE

There’s no complicated rulebook when it comes to mate. You need a mate, some yerba, hot water, a bombilla and a little bit of patience.

Fill the mate with yerba, shake it, add some warm water, place the bombilla and start pouring. The first few mates might taste strong. That’s normal. Give it a little time and you’ll get it.

The important part is not rushing it. You pour, drink, pass it on, and keep going.

And please, don’t boil the water. That’s one of the few rules we actually care about.

Around 70 to 80°C is the sweet spot.

After that, there’s no right or wrong way. Some like it strong, some mild, some add sugar, herbs or even orange peel.

The best way to drink mate is the way you enjoy it.

Just remember one thing.

If someone says “gracias” after drinking it, they’re probably done.

That’s your cue to skip them and move to the next person.

Mate has a funny way of bringing people together.

Someone always ends up being the cebador, the person responsible for preparing it and keeping the round going.

They pour the water, drink the mate, refill it and pass it to the next person.

Then it comes back.

And again.

And again.

There is usually someone talking, someone laughing, someone telling a story and someone asking for another mate before the round has even finished.

You don’t need an invitation. If the mate is going around, you’re part of it.

That’s what makes mate different.

It’s not about drinking the best mate in the world.

It’s about who you are drinking it with.

Friends, family, strangers, people you just met.

A mate can start a conversation, turn into a friendship or simply make you stay a little longer.

That’s the ritual.

Simple, social and very hard to explain until you’ve experienced it.

La historia

Where It All Started?

This is the question we’ve asked ourselves so many times:
Should we show the day-to-day?
Or go back to where it all began?

Abram’s story started in 2022.
After many tries, headaches, setbacks, and lessons.
At a time when our other projects were doing well, we decided to stop, look within, and build this. This brand.
And I say “brand” in quotes, because at first we didn’t even know if it was just my name... or maybe a part of me that needed to come out into the world.

Back then, I was selling fast. Without meaning.
It was just about moving products for cash — whatever was in the storage room, I could sell.
And it worked.
But… was that really what I wanted?

So we started giving time to Abram.
Bit by bit.
Taking hours away from what made money and putting them here — into something that gave nothing yet, but felt like it had purpose. Like it meant something.

With mistakes. With doubt. With anxiety, yes.
But also with a strong belief that this wasn’t just about clothing — it was a way of expressing something.
Of slowing down and showing what’s behind the surface:
The decisions, the mess, the unfinished edges, the hope that something real could grow.

Abram is a new step — the next step.
A path we didn’t fully understand, but we knew deep down it was going to work.
Because we were doing it with love, with truth, with intention, with journeys, with friends, with family — with a good heart and a real reason.

Now, from this new home — from Australia — what we want to build with Abram is clear:
Connection.
A connection between you, us, and whoever reads this next.
The next person who dares to take their next step — whether it’s flying across the world, migrating, or simply enjoying where they are now.
In your forever home or one you’re just discovering.
Because life is about that, right? About change. About learning to enjoy the process.

We want to link stories, people, cultures, fabrics, and paths.
We want Abram not just to dress — but to unite.
Not just clothing, but community.
A bond between backpackers, a quiet loyalty between us, a message of hope for anyone, anywhere.
A hug that says: you’ve got this — all you need is to try.

We want to be a bridge between those who create and those who wear.
Between those who feel and those who are looking for something real.

That’s what Abram is.
Not just selling things or uploading content.
But truly connecting — from something as simple as a thread, a thought, or a story that keeps growing.

ABRAM.

Bienvenidos a Mate Coast. Vamos a ver qué sale de esto.
